The entire area around the river is surrounded by numerous remains of various forts and buildings that confirm the population, and the oldest findings date from the Paleolithic. In this area are remains of Roman camp Burnum, and an ancient Croatian medieval fortress from the 14th century. Here are the remains of the ancient Roman aqueducts, and numerous remains of settlements and fortresses, and on the island Visovac is a Franciscan church and convent, and monastery of St. Archangel with valuable art collections. As monuments of architecture of the rural point there are several mills in the area, and they reveal how people once lived along the river Krka and they have an important historical and cultural value.
